Rome is a spectacular city that never ceases to amaze, rich in monuments and museums, evidence of its great past; or where you may see before your own eyes the glorious remains of the Roman empire, and the baroque and Renaissance periods. It is enough to travel along via dei Fori Imperiali to admire the Coliseum, the Arch of Constantine and the classical culture of ancient Rome.
Heading north, we find the imposing profile of the monumental Vittoriano complex and the splendid stairway of the Altare alla Patria; not far away, Piazza Venezia opens at the feet of the hills of Campidoglio, and flowing into it are the via del Corso and via del Plebiscito, two of the most important streets of Rome.
Entering the heart of the city, we experience the Rome immortalized in hundreds of films and photographs: the extraordinary Trevi Fountain, Piazza di Spagna, the flowery stairway of the Trinità dei Monti and the ‘dolce vita’ of Via Veneto. The fascination of these places is impossible to resist.
The piazzas.
Nearly all the piazzas of the historic center of Rome offer truly unique attractions, but two in particular are worthy of mention: Piazza Navona, for the Baroque architecture dominating the profiles of the palazzos, the splendidChiesa di Sant’Agnese and the superb Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi, and Piazza Barberini, adorned with the Fontana del Tritone, located near the hill of Quirinale. Do not forget the Campo de’ Fiori, a place that is rich in fascination with its picturesque rionale market and the bronze statue of Giordano Bruno.
Villa Borghese.
The city park of Villa Borghese is an immense green area containing inside it buildings, museum, statues and attractions such as La Casa del Cinema, a multi-room area dedicated to children. In the villa is preserved the amazing Galleria Borghese, an unequalled collection of art including by work Titian, Raphael, Michelangelo and many others. Also of great interest are the GNAM (Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna) and the works of contemporary artists such as De Chirico, Guttuso and Fontana.
Also:
Trastevere. Rome at its most authentic, with delightful trattorias and narrow streets.
Via dei Condotti. Enchanting shops for high-fashion shopping.
The Pantheon. The Roman temple dedicated to the gods. Tomb of the king of Italy.
Vatican Museums. Splendors and marvels. Divine inspiration.
Terme di Caracalla. The ancient imperial thermal waters. Fascinating.
